{Below, James explains that popular liver flushes are dangerous because they can cause gallstones to get stuck in the bile duct, which can lead to death, unless emergency surgery removes the stone. He gives healthy alternatives in the last paragraph, such as using bitters.}
James Sloane
This just got posted on one of Markus' videos:
"I don't like James because he said liver flushes don't work a few years back... they work!"
My response:
"You might want to do some real research instead of sticking to that highly faulty conclusion.
Let's start with the fact that these bogus flushes do nothing for the liver. People are claiming that they are passing large gallstones from these so-called "flushes. The liver IS NOT the gallbladder. These are two very different structures in the body. So why would anyone take these flush supporters that do not even know the difference between a liver and a gallbladder seriously?
Next, they claim the malic acid in the apple juice softens up gallstones in the gallbladder, which again is not the liver. This is also easy to disprove since all acids we ingest are neutralized by pancreatic bicarbonate as soon as the chyme leaves the stomach. Therefore, the malic acid does not even reach the bloodstream, let alone the lover or gallbladder intact. So that claim about these flushes is also a lie.
Then there are the green squishy blobs people are passing and picking out of their feces with some weird feces fetish then claiming these are "gallstones". Let's start with the fact that these green squishy blobs have no characteristics of real gallstones. Real gallstones are hard, they facet from rubbing against each other, they sink and they do not melt at room temperature. The green squishy blobs people are passing from these flushes are soft and squishy, not faceted, they float and they melt at room temperature, which is why people are told to store them in the freezer.
Some people have to erroneously argue that these are liver stones, and not gallstones, which is just as easy to disprove. Liver stones are rare, are caused by a parasite, are seen almost exclusively in Asian countries where this parasite thrives, and they are pigment stones, not cholesterol stones, which means they are almost black, not green like these squishy blobs.
Then there is the fact that people have posted pics of these blobs often the size of quarters to golf ball size, and I have heard people claim to have passed much larger blobs. Problem is that the bile ducts, which these blobs would have to pass through in order to go from the gallbladder to the intestines can only dilate a maximum of around 8-10mm without rupturing, which is significantly smaller than many of these blobs, which proves 100% they did not come from the liver or gallbladder.
One of the funniest ones I heard was this guy who claimed to have passed thousands of these "stones" in a week and he measured them all and posted the measurements. So I totaled up the measurements as to square inches. In short, according to this guy's claims he could not have any organs and would have been packed full of stones from his neck to his knees!!!!
This brings up yet another major flaw in the mythical "liver flush" hypothesis. The gallbladder is rather small, and only hold maybe 4 ounces. Yet people continually post volumes of these blobs that far exceed what the gallbladder is physically capable of holding, And they will do this several times a week. Even once would be impossible, and several times a week would require the person to be an alien from another planet since real gallstones in humans literally take years to form. Therefore, how can it be possible that a human is passing volumes of supposed "gallstones" that exceed the volume of the gallbladder, and in sizes too large to pass through the bile ducts, and manage to do this several times a week when it literally takes years for real stones to form? This is where people try to claim these are liver stones making up the excess volume, which again has already been proven to be complete nonsense.
So what are these soft, squishy, non-faceted, floating and melting at room temperature blobs that these fecal fetishers are picking out of there feces? Well a lab analysis has proven, these are primarily saponified oils, otherwise known as "fecal soaps". They are normally produced in the intestine as part of diet and also part of normal elimination of fats from the blood through the intestines. Highly alkaline substances react with the oil from the flush or these other fat sources saponifying the oils/fats in to soaps that help lubricate the intestines. The only reason most people are not aware of the existence in their feces is 1. the large amount of oil used in the "flushes" creates larger amounts and chinks of these fecal soaps making them more visible, and 2. Most people do not go picking through their feces to find these soaps that are naturally formed all the time in the intestines.
The remainder of these blobs are a sterol-cholesterol complex. The oil these people are ingesting contains compounds known as sterols. Sterols have a very high affinity for cholesterol, which is why sterols are used by people in to holistic therapies to lower cholesterol. The large amount of oil ingested does stimulate a bile release in to the intestines, and the bile contains cholesterol that would normally be reabsorbed from the gut. The sterols from the oil though bind this cholesterol forming a complex that prevents the cholesterol from being reabsorbed.
In fact, one of the posters on my old site decided to experiment to see if these "flushes" were real. She got checked and confirmed there were no stones and no sludge in her gallbladder. Then she followed the directions for this mythical "flush" and passed the same exact blobs of saponified oil and sterol-cholesterol complexes.
All this is really basic human physiology that the promoters of these mythical "liver flushes" really need to learn.
Now, the consumption of large amounts of oil can cause strong enough gallbladder contractions to push some sludge, which appears as gallstones on an ultrasound, and very tiny real gallstones through the bile ducts. Problem is that if larger real gallstones are present, the strong gallbladder contractions from this large amount of oil ingestion can force and lodge a real stone in the bile ducts. This leads to life threatening pancreatitis, and requires emergency surgery to save the person's life. That happened to one lady posting on the old boards I was on, and there are also reports of this happening in the medical journals.
Bottom line is that the "liver flushes" are a dangerous hoax. If someone really has gallstones, there are better options such as bitters, ox bile or supplementing with lecithin granules to dissolve the supersaturated cholesterol that makes up the majority of gallstones. It is also a good idea to address the cause of this supersaturation to begin with. Such as lack of dietary oil/fat intake, elevated levels of estrogen such as from ERT, elevated levels of progesterone such as from birth control pills or progesterone creams, some medications such as calcium channel blockers, etc."
